Maribeth Eiden, Ph.D.
Maribeth Eiden received her B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland and her Ph.D. in Genetics from George Washington University. After postdoctoral work at the NIMH, in part, involved the establishment of a novel viral vector system based on Gibbon Ape Leukemia Virus that has been widely employed as a vector for therapeutic gene delivery in the clinic and in basic research in cells in culture she became a tenured faculty member.
Dr. Eiden is currently the Chief of the Section on the Directed Gene Transfer in the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Regulation at NIMH. Dr. Eiden has been awarded an NIH Director Special Recognition Award and has been awarded several patents for gene therapy research tools.
