Science Update

WhiteHouse.gov

On Saturday, August 10, President Obama announced the National Research Action Plan (NRAP). NRAP is a coordinated effort by the Departments of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs (VA), Health and Human Services (HHS), and Education (ED) in response to last year’s Executive Order  that called for improved access to mental health services for veterans, service members, and military families. NRAP provides a comprehensive approach to accelerating research on traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder; as well as strategies for preventing suicide among veterans and active duty personnel.

For a brief overview of NRAP, please read the White House fact sheet (pdf). For a more detailed description of the plan, please read the complete NRAP document  (pdf).
