The NIMH Division of Services and Intervention Research (DSIR) supports effectiveness research focused on optimizing preventive and therapeutic interventions (i.e., refining therapies to increase potency and efficiency; testing strategies for matching and sequencing treatments) and services research that aims to increase access, continuity, equity, efficiency, and quality of mental health care. DSIR is looking for motivated individuals to serve as a Program Officer and encourages applications from productive researchers with expertise and a record of data-based publications in one or more of the following areas: the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions for youth with serious emotional disturbances and/or adults with serious mental illness (SMI); innovative strategies for refining, testing, and delivering psychosocial/behavioral interventions for adults with SMI (e.g., applications of technology; adaptive designs, modular- or stepped-care approaches for combing/sequencing/matching interventions); analytic strategies and methods for leveraging large data (e.g., informatics, decision science, predictive analytics, and other computational approaches applied to EHRs or other administrative data); and comparative effectiveness trials and other practice-based research (e.g., quality improvement research and related methodology, dissemination and implementation research).

The position provides an opportunity to impact priorities, develop new research initiatives and to contribute to the advancement of a national program of research. General responsibilities include administering and managing an extramural portfolio of research grants, interacting with researchers and program officers for related programs at NIMH, NIH, and other funding agencies, and developing new research initiatives.

Strong organizational, oral, written and communication skills are also required.  Experience with the grants process is preferable. Salary will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate.
