    In observance of Suicide Prevention Month, Dr. Jane Pearson participated in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) event on September 5, 2019. During the event, Dr. Pearson answered questions from the public about the latest suicide prevention research.
  • June 5–6, 2019
    The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) convened a two-day meeting with researchers and suicide prevention advocates to identify and prioritize research needs in the application of predictive modeling in suicide prevention among healthcare providers. Meeting participants aimed to discuss best practices for developing, implementing, and evaluating these predictive tools in clinical and research settings.

    Presentations were delivered by experts on topics related to the epidemiology of child and adolescent suicide, studying the development of suicide risk in the context of longitudinal cohort studies, and ethical considerations related to conducting research in this area.

    The NIMH Center for Global Mental Health Research (CGMHR) and Grand Challenges Canada co-convened the 10th anniversary global mental health conference, April 8-9, 2019, on the main campus of the National Institutes of Health. More than 400 researchers, innovators, and other stakeholders from 36 countries attended the two-day conference, where they learned about findings from cutting-edge science and new opportunities for groundbreaking research to address the Grand Challenges In Global Mental Health.
