Announcing New U.S. Disability Statistics on the NIMH Website

Science Update

NIMH is pleased to announce the new Disability Statistics section of our website. This section now includes information on the burden of disease in the United States based on the most recent information available from the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO). This updated, easy-to-navigate section includes:

  • WHO estimates of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and years lived with disability (YLDs)
  • Leading categories of diseases/disorders in the U.S.
  • Cumulative U.S. burden by age group
  • Impact of individual mental and behavioral disorders.

These new data and graphs can be found by selecting the Disability tab on the Statistics page of the NIMH website: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/statistics/index.shtml
