Meghna earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Public Health from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in May of 2022. At TCNJ, Meghna worked with Dr. Jeffery Erickson to investigate risk factors for SIDS by studying the cardiorespiratory behavior of serotonin-deficient neonatal mice during physiological challenges following developmental nicotine exposure. Additionally, she worked with Dr. Carolina Borges, studying oral health inequities and the role of social capital at the community level. She further completed independent research under the mentorship of Dr. John Pollock, analyzing cross-national media coverage of mental health issues during COVID-19. Her first exposure to research at the NIMH was as a summer intern in 2021. At that time, she worked in the Office of the Clinical Director, studying the role of mental health diagnoses as a predictor of suicide risk in racially diverse samples of medical patients. She joined the Section on Behavioral Neuroscience as a post-baccalaureate IRTA in 2022 as part of a clinical collaboration investigating structural and behavioral consequences of pregnancy on the maternal brain. Meghna enjoys learning new languages, playing the cello, and caring for her houseplants in her free time.
