Mikko graduated from the University of Washington in December 2024 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Neuroscience, specializing in Neural Computation & Engineering as well as Applied Mathematics. Under the mentorship of Dr. Elizabeth Buffalo, he worked with macaques to investigate age-related changes in spatial learning and memory using both hippocampal recordings and eye-tracking statistics and explored correlates of recognition memory with artificial neural networks for his undergraduate thesis. He is currently working on projects in the marmoset model to investigate the interplay of viral gene transduction and developing neural circuitry. Mikko's future interests lie in how early metabolic and immune disruption can shape cortical connectivity in common neurological disease states.
