Ana is a psychologist with an M.Sc. in Science focused on Neurobiology and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During her doctoral training, under the supervision of Dr. Pavel Rueda, she investigated the role of bilateral cortico-striatal projections in the execution of bimanual tasks, combining localized lesions, optogenetics, and electrophysiological recordings. Following her Ph.D., Ana completed a short postdoctoral fellowship in Per Petersson’s laboratory at Umeå University, Sweden. There, she examined how striatal neurons integrate convergent inputs from multiple cortical areas during skilled forelimb movements and decision-making. Currently, Ana is a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Lee’s lab, studying how functionally similar neuronal ensembles are organized across the brain.
