Madeleine Perkins is a Post-Baccalaureate IRTA Fellow working with Dr. Messanvi investigating the effects of prefrontal and hippocmapal galanin on visuospatial attention and response control. She is also working on a variety of anatomy projects elucidating the pathways of prefrontal cortical circuits using transynaptic viral tracing, and is independently conducting a project involving the chemogenetic manipulation of the dorsal and ventral hippocampus in tests of spatial navigation. Madeleine received a Bachelor of Science in Biology (conc. Neurobiology and Behavior) from Cornell University in 2016. In addition to her scientific interests, she writes fiction novels and is a pianist.
