NIMH Pre-Med Workshop for Postbacs

This half-day workshop is designed for Postbac IRTAs who are interested in applying to medical school or combined MD-PhD programs in an upcoming cycle. The workshop will help Postbac IRTAs understand the steps of the application process and learn about the available resources to assist in preparing a strong application.

During the workshop, Postbacs will hear from current medical students who are at NIH as part of the Medical Research Scholars Program, and from second-year NIMH IRTAs who are going through the application process.

The workshop will include:

  • Timelines for application activities
  • Resource handouts (particularly the services offered by the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE))
  • Small group discussions
  • Opportunities to network with peers to support and/or mentor each other
  • Q&A period

Trainees should get approval from their supervisor/Principal Investigator (PI) to have the afternoon off for this workshop. This workshop is held annually in January/February.

Check out the OFT Events Calendar for registration information.
