Shrey Patel

Dr. Shrey Patel received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2022. In July 2025, he transferred to the NIMH PGY4 Psychiatry Residency program from St. Joseph Medical Center – Dignity Health/Common Spirit. He works under the mentorship of Drs. Carlos Zarate and William Regenold in the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit (NNU).

Aryan Tafreshi

Dr. Aryan Tafreshi received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2022. In July 2025, he transferred to the NIMH PGY4 Psychiatry Residency program from The George Washington University. He works under the mentorship of Drs. Carlos Zarate and Mark Kvarta in the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch.

Hiroe Hu

Dr. Hiroe Hu received her Doctor of Osteopathy from Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020 after completing a gap research year from 2018-2019. In July 2023, she transferred to NIMH from Medstar Georgetown University Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry. She is currently working under the mentorship of Dr. Carlos Zarate in the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch.

Gregory Jones

Dr. Gregory Jones received his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UT Health in 2019. Dr. Jones completed his fourth year of residency at McGovern Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry on the research track. His current work and research interests align closely with those of his NIMH mentor, Dr. Carlos Zarate. Dr. Jones joined the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch in July 2023.

Tyler Torrico

Dr. Tyler Torrico received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica in 2020. Dr. Torrico transferred from UCLA Kern Medical Center in the Psychiatry Residency Program to NIMH to complete his final year of residency. He currently works under the mentorship of Dr. Sarah ‘Holly’ Lisanby and Dr. William Regenold in the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit.

Adam Fijtman

Dr. Adam Fijtman received his medical degree and PhD in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He transferred from Duke University School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency to NIMH in 2022. He is currently a PGY5 Clinical Fellow working with Dr. Carlos Zarate in the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch.
