Laboratory Training

ALL LABORATORY PERSONNEL are required to take:

• Introduction to Laboratory Safety
• “Laboratory Safety at the NIH” – classroom (Main Campus)

OR S.T.A.R.S. “Learn by Doing” class (ages 21 and younger, Summer Only)

• Annually on-line Laboratory Safety Refresher

OR Laboratory Safety Refresher Course – classroom (Main Campus)

Laboratory Personnel Working with Human Blood, or Other Potentially Infectious Material are required to take:

• “Working Safely with HIV and Other Bloodborne Pathogens for Non-Hospital Personnel”
• Annually on-line Bloodborne Pathogen Refresher class

Laboratory Personnel Working in a BSL-3 Laboratory are required to take:

• Annually Biosafety Level 3 Training

Laboratory Personnel Working with Animals are required to take:

• Animal Care & Use Training 

Laboratory Personnel Working with Radioactivity are required to take:

• Radiation Safety Training
