Premenstrual Dysphoria

Doctors at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Bethesda, Maryland are trying to learn more about the causes of and treatments for premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD, a severe premenstrual syndrome). Many women experience distressing mood changes prior to their menstrual periods. Current research suggests that women who experience PMDD may have an abnormal sensitivity to a normal change in hormones.

You are invited to call the National Institute of Mental Health at 301-496-9576 for information on our research studies of Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder. If you are struggling with irritability, anxiety, or sadness prior to your menstrual period, please call us. Together we can make a difference.
