Aidan Wade earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a license in addictions counseling from Kent State University in 2024. He came to the NNU through the Undergraduate Scholarship Program, a congressionally funded scholarship for underserved students who demonstrate excellence in research which includes a fellowship at the NIH. In 2023, he discovered an interest in rapid-acting treatments for mood disorders while doing a summer research program at Stanford University. Throughout his undergraduate years, Aidan volunteered in mentorship programs and spent one semester providing counseling to people struggling with substance use. Presently, he is a study coordinator on a trial delineating the cause of cognitive side effects from the electrical stimulus and seizure in electroconvulsive therapy. Aidan plans to go to medical school and provide services to low-income communities while continuing to investigate rapid-acting treatments for mood disorders.
